Treatment
Magazine Name: Defused
Target Readership: I have decided to aim my music magazine at girls ranging from 14 - 18year olds, who enjoy listening to R n B music and would like to read about the latest artists/bands coming out. Also Defused will have the latest looks, so young teenage girls can have the latest fashion tips, and find out what is going on in celebrities lifes, and inteviews of new artists/bands. Defused will be a reasonable price, because it is aimed at teenagers that will have either a part time job or a weekend job, so therefore they will not have as much money as people who have full time jobs there age, so i am have my magazine at a cheap price so more people will buy it, this will allow my magazine to become more popular. Defused will also give advice to the target audience.
Form and Style: Defused is an A4 colour magazine filled with purple, black and different shades of pink. Defused will contain the main topic R n B music, fashion, real life problems, the UK's top 40, and the new girl band "Flo". The front cover will be of the new girl band "Flo", who have never been seen in magazines before, and inside the low down on their brand new single. In all the other Defused magazines, the main picture will always be something linked to music, eg. famous singers/bands that have been around for a long time, or a new band just coming out. I will use the same colour scheme everytime, to link each issue to one another. I will show what is inside on the front cover, so the audience will know what to expect whats inside, and so they know they will be getting their moneys worth. This magazine will cost the readers £2.
Themes and Typical Features: Defused will have the typical features of music, sex, fashion, relationships and gossip. The strong features will be lyrics to new songs that have come out. There will also be the UK’s top 40 every week, to keep the audience up to date with the music, and also there will be reviews on new artists, old artists and their music videos etc.
Potential Advertising: There will be a range of companys/brands that will be advertised in Defused. Some of examples of these are, Tampax, New Look, Top Shop and brands like Bench, Superdry etc. The reason why i have chose shops and brands like these is because of my magazine is aimed at young teenage girls, that would want to buy and wear these brands. Also around valentines time, there will be advertisements of where the girls can buy for their valentines.
Editorial Teams: The Editorial Team for Defused, will be mainly women in their early 20’s, so they can relate to the girls. However i will have a few males on the team, so they can show a different opinion. These people will be experienced writers.

Textual Analysis of KERRANG!
The title of this magazine sounds like a guitar; this connects to what genre the magazine is. The audience for Kerrang! would be people who are interested in rock music. The front cover has a colour scheme of black and red. The main title is a different font to the rest of the text, which would allow it to stand out, with the white text on a black background. The picture is the main asset on this cover, because it is in the centre of the magazine. It is a mid close up shot of a man. The main picture connects with the coverlines as the man in the picture is from the band “Guns ‘n’ Roses”. The barcode is in the corner of the magazine, this will make it easier for the person behind the check out to scan it. All of the text is in capitals, which makes it easier for the audience to read, it stands out a lot. There is a red border around the white text to emphasise the important parts of the text.
Textual Analysis of Top Of The Pops
Front Cover -
The main title is in bubble writing placed at the top of the page, they may have used bubble writing to allow the title to stand out, and add an interesting feature to this front cover. The middle part of this writing is covered up by the main picture which would need to see the magazines whole title because they will associate the pictures with what sort of magazine it is, especially when you have all singers on the front cover. The colour of Cheryl's top is white which, goes with the colour scheme of this magazine. This magazines main colour is pink; this will be because it is quite a girly magazine. It advertises the fact that they have posters inside to make young children who "fancie" these celebrities to want to buy it, so they can have their pictures on their wall. The use of "JLS SIGNED HOODIE" this is a quote off the magazines cover to lure the target audience in, this is also in a different font, so it stands out. They have also used abbrievations such as "OMG", this relates to the way teenagers/young children speak these days.
